Disclaimer: The Nature of Kudu Leather

Because it comes from a wild animal, every hide shows marks, scars, and natural variation. These features appear across the boots — and the left and right foot will differ.

This is not a defect.
It is the defining character of this leather.

👉 If you prefer perfectly uniform leather with minimal variation, this boot may not be for you.

A wild leather, literally.

Because kudu is a wild animal, the leather has natural scars, marks, and grain variations that make every pair unmistakably unique.

The Color: 'Clover'

Clover has a grey foundation with tan, blue, and olive undertones.

We paired it with our signature 'Antique Auburn' welt: dark brown on top, rich red-brown on the side.

Charles F Stead: Tanning heritage

Since 1904, the Leeds-based tannery Charles F. Stead has been renowned for its distinctive leathers. Their kudu leather is especially prized for its strength and natural character — with scars, marks, and grain that make every hide unique.

The Place & People

Made in Europe from sketchbook to stitch. The Chieftain is thoughtfully designed in Belgium and skillfully built in Portugal by craftspeople who've perfected their trade over generations.
