  • Built to Last

Crafted using the traditional Goodyear welt method and all European leather, you can rest assured: this pair is built to last.

Navigate the different parts to learn more about the build quality.

  • Full Leather Lining

The softest calf leather touches every part of your foot. Leather lining increases the shoe's durability, wicks away moisture more efficiently, and prevents smelly feet.

  • Waxed Leather Upper

Waxing leather is a traditional and effective way to weatherproof footwear. This leather is particularly robust, yet simultaneously supple and comfy. It's also hard-wearing: scuffs and creases only add to its character.

  • Goodyear Welt Construction

Considered the golden standard in sustainable footwear, this 150-year-old method attaches the uppers to the soles in a way that ensures the highest durability and allows for easy repairs.

  • Cork Footbed

Between the insole and midsole lies a layer of agglomerated cork that, over time, molds to the shape of your foot, making the shoe more comfortable with every step.

  • Rubber Ridged Sole

The ridges on this (real) rubber sole give you great traction but maintain a flat look from any perspective. It's hard-wearing and will become flexible the more you wear it.
The midsole is cut from a veg tan leather bend.

  • Leather heel with rubber finishing

Stacked heel of (real) leather with a rubber top lift for better traction.

FAQ

What last (shape & fit) is used for this pair?

THE MICHAEL LAST

Rounded toe box, slightly increased width, medium arch support

Nearly three years were spent on its incremental development in collaboration with Michael James, the master last maker from the Springline company in Northampton, England.

Besides looking beautiful, the shape fits incredibly comfortable, as has been confirmed by all of our customers. People of all heights, weights, and sizes.

Where is Lennertson located?

We're a Belgian-Dutch company based in the North-Eastern Limburg area of Belgium. Here we do our everyday work like designing shoes and communicating with customers.
Lennertson is also made up of the countless people who contribute to our mission. Be it our lastmaker in England, our craftspeople in Spain and Portugal, or you who wears our shoes anywhere in the world.

Ethical labor: What is Lennertson's policy?

We grew up in working-class families and greatly admire the men and women who make our footwear. Fair & safe labor conditions are essential to us. We produce locally within the European Union, where the highest standards of these laws and rights are applied. We choose to only collaborate with companies that share our values. Being close allows us to visit frequently and maintain a close relationship with all our partners.

Sustainable fashion: Where does Lennertson source materials?

We source our leather from time-honored tanneries in Europe. European tanneries are strictly regulated by the European Environmental Agency, resulting in far more environmentally friendly tanning practices than in many other parts of the world. We only use leathers that are a side-product of the meat industry.

Our rubber soles are made by local European, family-run businesses as well.

Regarding footwear sustainability, construction methods are equally important to sourcing. Our shoes are Goodyear welted, with stitched soles instead of glued. This results in far more sustainable shoes that will last you a very long time and are endlessly repairable.

'Handmade': Why are there imperfections in my shoes?

This question isn't actually asked frequently because customers fall in love with our shoes from the moment they open the box!

Lennertson shoes and boots are made in a traditional and artisanal way.

The process involves a lot of handcraft, and when machines are used, it's always a person's hand guiding the shoe. As such, it's perfectly possible for you to see slight imperfections: two stitches that are not the exact same size, slight color variations, etc.

A computer makes things perfect. A human makes things with passion, care, and unique character. That's how we see it, and we believe you will too.

We also choose to work with 'natural leathers'—uncorrected grain that isn't overly processed or coated. Its surface structure should not be perfectly uniform; but may include natural blemishes and marks reflecting its origins. Our leathers look and feel authentic because they are—made from an animal's skin.
