FAQ
What kind of lasts (shoe shape and fit) does Lennertson use?
'Michael' – Shoes and laced boots
Rounded toe box, slightly increased width, medium arch support
Nearly three years were spent on its incremental development in collaboration with Michael James, the master last maker from the Springline company in England.
Besides looking beautiful, the shape fits incredibly comfortably, as has been confirmed by all of our customers. People of all heights, weights, and sizes.
'Michael-C' – Chelsea boots
Used for THE RIDER. It's almost identical to the Michael last, except trimmed in certain areas to fit better on a laceless boot design.
'Peter' – Sneakers
It has a rounded toe, lowered heel rise, flat footbed profile (mild arch support is added by the insole) and sufficient width.
Where does Lennertson make shoes?
We're 'made in Europe' from sketchbook to stitch.
We're a Belgian-Dutch company based in the North-Eastern Limburg area of Belgium. Here, we design our footwear.
Our shoe-lasts (the shape on which our shoes are built) are co-designed with Michael James, the master shoe-last maker from the Springline company in England.
We cut, stitch and build our footwear in Spain and Portugal with our beloved partners. Family-run companies where craftspeople have perfected their trade over generations.
How does Lennertson make shoes?
A lot of time goes into very thoughtfully designing our shoes. A scribble on a piece of paper turns into a more sophisticated illustration and leads to the choice of materials.
Next we go through a comprehensive development process in collaboration with the factory. We'll make different samples and pay a lot of attention to every small detail.
When we have an approved prototype we go into production. We produce shoes in small production runs, which benefits it of a higher level of quality control.
A traditional and artisanal way
The process involves a lot of handcraft, and when machines are used, it's always a person's hand guiding the shoe.
Our main line uses the Goodyear welt construction method. this 150-year-old craft attaches the uppers to the soles in a way that ensures the highest durability and endless repairability.
Our sneakers have stitched—not glued—constructions as well.
Ethical labor: What is Lennertson's policy?
We grew up as working-class kids and greatly admire the men and women who work on our footwear. Fair & safe labor conditions are essential to us. We produce locally within the European Union, where the highest standards of these laws and rights are guaranteed. We choose to only collaborate with companies that share our values. Being close allows us to visit frequently and maintain a close relationship with all our partners.
